North Island
The destinations on the North Island of New Zealand are known for its volcanic activities, national parks and cosmopolitan cities. About three quarters of the New Zealand population lives on the North Island. Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, and Wellington, New Zealand’s capital, are both located there. The North Island is packed with beautiful bays and islands.
South Island
The destinations on the South Island of New Zealand are known for its rugged nature with many mountains, lakes and glaciers. The Southern Alps run along almost the entire length of the island and can be admired in many places. The world famous Milford Sound is located in the southwest of the South Island. To the north is Abel Tasman National Park, known for its blue waters and warm weather. Queenstown is known for its adrenaline activities such as bungee jumping, rafting and skiing.
